PRESS COLLECTION: “Americans Posing with Missile” (1961)

Lack Vilas, the first man to fly across Lake Michigan in 1913; Col. B.R. J. (Fish) Hassell, who pioneered flights across the Antarctic and whose wrecked plane is still used as a navigational marker in the Greenland Ice Caps; Captain Ben Lipsner, who organized air mail service on on an experimental basis in 1918; Col. Roscoe Turner, holder of the distinguished Flying Cross; and Ralph Bergsten, managing director of the fair.
